Product Description:
Slag darts are refractory shapes that are used during the production of steel in the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) process. They are designed to float at the interface between the liquid steel and slag in the furnace and minimise the amount of slag that is carried over to the ladle during the tapping process. The slag dart is inserted mechanically into the taphole toward the end of the tapping operation. When the steel is drained from the furnace it seals the taphole thus holding back the slag. Slag is an undesirable element that will lead to impurities and a subsequent reduction in steel quality.

Method of use of slag darts:
1) slag dart placement must be accurate, to ensure smooth into the tapping hole guide bar, so after each converter for a new tapping hole should be repositioned, namely in the condition of empty furnace, with a slag dart (rod instead of the slag retaining wall can use 1), to simulate a slag, slag stem from the smoothly through the tapping hole is center, has fallen into the pit furnace, namely regards positioning success, if not.It can be reorientated by adjusting the travel of mobile trolley or guide rail.
2) to ensure the quality of the slagging darts, not only the material proportion is suitable, but the gap between the guide rod and the darting dart body must be filled with refractory clay to dry.Otherwise, the steel water will melt the steel bar inside the guide bar when it is slightly longer in the molten steel.The guide bar breaks off the guiding role, the slag darts body cannot sit accurately to the steel outlet, causing the slag failure.
3) the timing of the release of slag darts must be well timed, and the slag darts will be melted in the early stage, which will lead to the slagging effect.
4) keep the slag darts clamping device clean and not sticky steel, otherwise it will lead to the failure of the slag darts.Failure to prevent slag.
