Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference

ISLAMABAD, July 26 (APP): The inaugural edition of the Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference (PIMEC) scheduled to be held at the Karachi Expo Center from February 10 to 12, 2023, was soft launched here on Tuesday.

Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, who spoke at the launch ceremony as the chief guest, lauded the Pakistan Navy for taking the initiative to showcase the potential of Pakistan's maritime sector through PIMEC.


Pakistan, he added, offered huge opportunities for profitable investment, joint ventures and trade in the maritime sector.


He stressed that "oceans bring people together and therefore need to be made a safer place through the joint efforts of all stakeholders". As a responsible state, Pakistan is committed to playing its role in international peace, stability and order.


The minister extended Pakistan's maritime potential which could contribute immensely to the national economy. He highlighted that a few of the areas that deserve special attention are the development of an efficient ship breaking industry, transshipment, fishing industry, coastal tourism, water sports and aquaculture.


Khawaja Asif emphasized the integration of public-private partnerships between the maritime industry to achieve optimal results. The potential of academia and research and development organizations must be harnessed to increase the efficiency and productivity of the maritime sector, he added.


The minister assured that the government will continue to create an environment conducive to business and investment. He expressed hope that the avenues created through PIMEC will grow and bring Pakistan closer to the cherished goals of realizing regional peace and shared prosperity through joint efforts.


Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi in his remarks appreciated the dynamic participation of the guests which added great value to the event.


He appreciated that PIMEC would be the flagship of Pakistan which was to be held every two years to showcase the latest technologies of the national and international maritime industry.


The expo would serve as one of the highest-level international gatherings of entrepreneurs, R&D specialists, financial experts and policymakers to enhance cooperation, knowledge sharing and support for maritime enterprises, he added.


The Navy chief hoped that with zeal and enthusiasm, careful planning and cooperation of all stakeholders, PIMEC-2023 would prove to be "a boost to our national economy and help elevate our international standing".


Earlier, Badar Expo Solutions CEO Zohair Naseer, who is also the co-organizer of the event, said that it was a proud moment for Badar Expo Solutions to partner with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Pakistan Navy for the inaugural edition of Pakistan International Maritime. Expo and conference. The exhibition would highlight the potential of the maritime sector in Pakistan and help harness the benefits of the blue economy.


He assured that Badar Expo Solutions with the support of the Pakistan Navy and Ministry of Maritime Affairs will make every effort to make PIMEC a premier and successful maritime event contributing to harnessing the potential of the blue economy.


The ceremony was attended by federal ministers, chief ministers, ambassadors, military officials, academia, media fraternity and distinguished guests from all walks of life.
