BEIJING - "COVID-19 made an impact on on-site, face-to-face partnership between Chinese and Pakistani universities," notes Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES), China, but they have not stopped trying to "promote bilateral trade and Internet-based textile engineering” with the National Textile University (NTU), Pakistan.

According to a joint agreement signed by SUES and NTU in May, the two universities should promote bilateral trade and cooperation in teaching, scientific research, academic conferences, seminars,  symposiums, long-term and short-term student exchange programs, mutual recognition agreement (MRA) for GPA, double major programs, summer exchange programs and industrial partnerships with universities (IUCs), to build a platform to showcase textile technology exchanges between the two universities.

Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) has told China Economic Net (CEN) that the 2020 AATCC Sustainability Innovation and Fashion Technology International Conference (AATCC-SIFTIC) will be held in October by the School of Fashion Engineering (SFE), SUES in form of an online video conference, where professors from NTU will participate.

“NTU officials and the SUES's School of Fashion Engineering are closely aligned,” said a SUES source, “so, by agreement, we are committed to promoting international IUCs between the two schools, a major step towards enrolling NTU students in IUC projects. -SUES.”

SUES added that the School of Fashion Engineering (SFE) is a multi-disciplinary and structured developing school, based on textile technology and fashion engineering. It builds a "Quadra-Cooperative Mode" for "Cooperative Education, Cooperative School-Running, Cooperative Innovation, and Cooperative Employment" and industries. The SFE is equipped with two Ministerial and provincial research bases, and a National Engineering Practical Education Center affiliated with business in China.

"China and Pakistan are steel-clad brothers who enjoy great friendship and cooperation," said SUES to China Economic Net (CEN), adding that academic exchanges and cooperation between the two universities could provide human resources and technical and economic technology services in the textile and clothing sector under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
