ADI and Intel will work together to build a flexible radio platform that addresses the challenges of building a 5G network and will enable customers to scale their 5G networks quickly and economically.

The radio platform integrates the advanced technology of ADI's radio frequency (RF) transceivers with high performance and low power Intel Arria 10 Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) giving developers a new set of design tools to easily build better 5G solutions.

The telecommunications market is moving at a fast pace to keep up with the strains put on bandwidth and delays as more and more people are selling business digitally and consuming and transmitting information from everywhere.

Significant increases in traffic over existing wireless networks occur in both private and public spaces. As a result, wireless operators want to reduce development times and cost of implementation of new solutions that enhance the power, efficiency and reliability of 5G networks. With a combination of open standards and existing communication links, mobile network operators create a complete set of definitions and support a growing length of usage cases.

“This new radio platform reduces design costs and speeds up our customers' time to market without sacrificing system-level performance,” said Joe Barry of ADI, “by integrating ADI transceivers featuring advanced digital frontend (DFE) functionality with Intel's advanced FPGA technology, our customers' solutions can achieve the high level of performance they need while maximizing their flexibility to better address emerging network issues.”
