The parts are

  • 173010335: 3.3V out, 6-36Vin, 87% max efficiency at 12Vin

  • 173010535: 5V out, 8-36Vin, 92% max efficiency at 12Vin

“The components in a SIP-3 package represent cost-effective solutions to meet the requirements for the transient capability of a 24V industrial voltage network,” according to the company. “The new modules generate a fixed output voltage at a current of up to 1A.”The modules comprise the power stage, controller, inductors, and both input and output capacitors “no external components are required for operation”, according to the company, although both the data sheet and evaluation board (17800FDSM) show additional input capacitance. Up to 680µF of additional output capacitance can be tolerated.Topology is diode-rectified (non-synchronous) step-down regulator with a current-mode loop. Output voltage is divided by an internal resistor network and fed into the error amplifier to be compared against a 0.765V reference. Amplified, the error signal controls the on-time of a fixed frequency (520kHz) pulse width generator. That evaluation board also has the input filtering components required to get the dc-dc converters under EMC standard EN55032/CISPR32 Class B radiated and line-bound interference limits (see page 27 of the data sheet)

The data sheet is commendably thorough – for example, page 29 shows a way to reconnect the three pins to generate a negative output voltage (diagram right).Operation is specified in ambients between -40 and 85°C, and thermal overload protection is included, as is short-circuit protection.
