ROSEMONT, Ill.—In response to the shifts in the New York Home Fashions Market structure, the International Housewares Association is welcoming home textiles companies to its upcoming show next month.

The New York Home Fashions Market—held in March and September in several buildings in Manhattan—has been challenged with the sale last year of 295 Fifth Avenue, known as the Textiles Building, and the plans to renovate it into office space. The Home Fashion Products Association, which organizes the market, said earlier this month that the market is not relocating or disappearing.

However, the IHA is inviting textiles companies to view its show as additional or replacement space. “In addition to the New York Textiles Market Weeks, many home textiles suppliers may be looking for a supplemental path to reach key retail buyers,” said Derek Miller, IHA president. “Our invitation to visit The Inspired Home Show is open to all textiles suppliers, not just those who have had showrooms in the 295 Fifth Avenue showroom building.”

A handful of textiles companies already exhibit at the show, and IHA’s chairman this year is Chip Steidle, CEO of textiles company John Ritzenthaler, makers of Ritz home textiles products.

Miller added that the open house for home textiles suppliers is Mar. 15, though they are welcome to visit whichever day is most convenient. Events are still in development. The show is scheduled for Mar. 14-17, at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center.

“Leaders from the textiles industry will gather at The Inspired Home Show to experience the event firsthand and to speak with show management and the IHA board of directors,” said Miller. The show features a full range of home and housewares categories and is now expanding to all major home textiles classifications, including bed, bath, window, table and kitchen and rugs, Miller said.Textiles companies interesting in learning more about the open house or the show can contact Miller at dmiller@housewares.org or Warren Shoulberg at wshoulberg@gmail.com.
